“The words of a man’s mouth are deep waters;
The fountain of wisdom is a bubbling brook.”
Proverbs 18:4
When we speak, it matters. I’ve learned this the hard way. There have been words that have come out of my mouth that I wished instantly I could push retrieve and place back inside.
Have you been there?
Do you ever struggle with your words? Overpromising? Overcommitting? Deceit? Slander? Side conversations? Loyal disagreement? Passive manipulation?
Challenge for this week:
- Find two people and either write them a note of encouragement or tell them some positive character traits you notice.
- On at least two occasions, keep from lashing out, criticizing, or condemning with your words written, spoken, or body language.
“With the fruit of a man’s mouth his stomach will be satisfied;
He will be satisfied with the product of his lips.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit.”
Proverbs 18:20-21
