Decisions. Decisions. Decisions.

Do you ever struggle with decisions? Large ones, small ones, or anything in between? Sometimes, we all face decision difficulties or at least decision fatigue. The question is, “Is there a simple approach to making decisions?” I’m sure there are many. In this article, I will share one I’ve benefited from.

One of my dear friends and mentors has helped me navigate the decision-making process over the years. He uses the method I’m presenting here today.

Big Idea: God’s Word guides. Counsel confirms. Time testifies. Peace perseveres. Seasons substantiate. Faithfulness fulfills. Prayer is the process of providing proof.

The Word – God’s decision-maker

  • Scripture interprets Scripture – balancing, complementing, and completing.
  • His promise – Numbers 23:19, Isaiah 55:10,1, Matthew 24:35
  • Our charge – Joshua 1:8, Psalm 1:1-3

Counsel – God’s elaboration and confirmation

  • Psalm 32:8,9, Proverbs 27:9

Time – God’s parenthesis in which He builds character and spotlights miracles

  • TIME- Transformation In the Making of Eternity
  • God guides, Satan rushes – The enemy throws his best at you before God gives His best to you. Isaiah 43:19
  • Grow into, don’t just go into. Proverbs 24:27
  • Waiting time is not wasting time. Isaiah 40:31, Psalm 27:14, Isaiah 30:18, Isaiah 64:4, and Habakkuk 2:3
  • With Anticipation I Trust – With Anticipation I Task

Continual Peace – God’s exclamation mark!!!

  • PEACE – Progressive Ease of Accepting Circumstances as Eternal
  • Circumstances provide His circumspection. Micah 6:8
  • Disappointments are His appointments.
  • Learning not to ask “why” but “unto what end” – what is it God has for me…to learn…be…think…or do?
  • That settled tranquility of Spirit that defies understanding and is unaffected by circumstance.
  • Psalm 62:5,6

Seasons of Life – A big picture perspective

  • God is faithful throughout the seasons. Psalm 37:23-26
  • Does it fit?.. Recognize, Respect, Redeem – no regrets. We have one, and only one, opportunity in season.
  • God’s calling and timing are two different things; His will and ways are one (King David).
  • John 12:24, Isaiah 46:8-10

Faithfulness to the known will of God

  • Faithful in the little. Ruth 2:2,3
  • …it just so happens…
  • Luke 16:10. Trust with little…

Prayer – the continual process of prayer – God’s dynamite of dependence

  • Psalm 116:1,2 (Living)

Romans 12:2 – good…acceptable…perfect

  • Let the Word decide…God is His own interpreter.

As you face decisions, may this guide help you along the way.
