“He sends forth springs in the valleys;
They flow between the mountains…”
Psalm 104:10
Gliding down the river to our fishing spot, you couldn’t help but feel a sense of awe and majesty. The air was cool; the birds were singing; the steam was rising from the White River; the day was beginning.
The environment changed as the morning turned into the afternoon, but the life surrounding us remained. Fish were topping the water in search of bugs; geese were calling each other; cardinals and wrens were whistling in the trees, and an occasional bald eagle swooped down and up to a high perch.
Creation was alive. We were there to experience it.
What’s incredible is that this is how creation passes every day. In small ways, God’s creatures, great and small, are moving through His World. He is sustaining and proclaiming His goodness!
“The heavens are telling of the glory of God; and their expanse is declaring the work of His hands. Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.”
Psalm 19:1-2
Challenge for us today…
Consider taking time this weekend to walk through a park or natural area and observe:
- What ecosystem do you see?
- In what ways do you see God’s hand sustaining it?
- How can you praise God as a result of observing His creation?
